In the Lyneel kingdom it is said there lives a man who can move faster then the eye can see. His name is Jinsoku, but few have seen him. Many come looking to find him to learn his skill, but few succeed. For those willing to learn the rokushiki he is said to be the first step on the path, the master of Soru.
News has come to the man that two marines wish to walk the path of the rokushiki and he has heard, like most, they are coming to him first. A grin appeared on his face as his spies had informed him who they would be. A vice-admiral and a giant. This was definitely going to be fun in his eyes.

That was the first thing on his path towards power. The Path of the Rokushiki. Six Monstrous Styles. He felt like a long way off. He would need to find the Master of Suro before he could get any further on this Journey.
He was on this journey with none other than his Captain, Pendragon D. Salazar, a Giant both figuratively and literally. Together they would try to find the man name Jinsoku, a master of the First style of Rokushiki, Soru. The ability to move at high speeds, seeming as if you vanishing only to reappear in an instant. It was a godly technique but only the first. He wore a simple Blue Muscle Shirt, Black pants that didn't restrict his movements and a pair of black fingerless gloves. He had his Scythe hidden in a bag strapped across his back, only planning to use it in emergencies.
He looked at his Captain, his companion on this Journey. Would they even make it? "You ready for this?" There could be no stepping back once they took the first step on this piece of land. It was now or never. There was no going back.

“ Rokushiki. The famed martial art style, shrouded in myth and legend as it were, and touted to be the art of the superhuman. Pendragon D. Salazar had heard many legends in his travels across the Blues and the Grand Line when he was younger. Heck, he’s even faced foes with knowledge of this magnificent style, assuring him of the fact that it was indeed very real.
Upon hearing the Vice Admiral’s request for the giant to join his quest to learn all six styles of the art of Rokushiki, there was no way in bowels of Davy Jones’ locker that the was going to pass this up. Learning new things and training were favourite hobbies of his, and a mission to combine both was nothing short of a wonderful dream come true. Only a fool would pass this opportunity up!
That was why he was journeying with his Vice Admiral to look for the first of the six masters of Rokushiki, Jinsoku the master of Soru. He had the utmost confidence that they would find all of them and take the knowledge that they searched for… even by hook or crook, if necessary. If the Vice Admiral was as obsessed with gaining power as he suspected he was after his encounter with that cyborg, then there would be little problem in convincing him of a more… pirate-like method if the honest one failed.
Suddenly, he was ripped away from his silent musings by a question voiced by his superior. “You ready for this?” The giant raised an eyebrow –which wasn’t seen due to his headband covering up his forehead, but the sentiment was clearly still there- for a few moments at what he deemed to be a silly question before responding with a chuckle.
”Of course, Vice Admiral.” The giant replied with a mysterious smirk, his golden eyes glinting greedily at the thought of so much knowledge near his grasp. ”Shall we?”

As soon as they had stepped foot on the land the man known as Jinsoku began to prepare his training area just in case they were able to find him. However, few had ever managed to find where he lived. However, he was certainly interested in this vice-admiral and giant. The idea of a giant with soru and geppo, should they decided to visit another master after this, was hilarious in his eyes. Also, he had heard rumours that the vice-admiral was seeking power to gain revenge against a cyborg pirate, the infamous Lich T.Noir. Of course, few people had heard of that, but Jinsoku had his eyes and ears everywhere.
Due to his interest in these two he had ordered one of his spies to go and give them a piece of paper. On this paper was a clue. Should they be able to solve the clue and a message. The message read as follows: "So you wish to learn the art of soru, the stepping stone that will let you learn all of rokushiki? Then solve my little riddle and the ones that follow and you will find me." The riddle was much more interesting though especially to these two who needed to answer it. It read as follows "I never leave my home, I am rarely visited. One day I turned off all the lights of my home and caused many deaths. Who am I?"
The spy approached the vice admiral and bowed before handing him the paper. "My name is Harold. I have been asked by a man known as Jinsoku to give you this paper." With that the man vanished in a blur leaving the paper in the hand of the vice-admiral. The man appeared again on the roof of a building, but vanished again soon after. What will the two of you do?

Very interesting indeed. Jack read the riddle over before handing it to the Giant, allowing him to come up with a guess as well. Thanks to his Intelligence, it didn't take too long for him to figure it out. It was a person, if he was correct, though it had taken a few internal guesses before he approached that theory. He thought it over before finally deciding yet not saying anything.
He waited for his Giant friend to finish, wondering if he would have any insights to the riddle. Then he thought over the situation again and frowned. Something was off. "It's questionable, isn't it? Why would a Master of Soru, a technique that allows one to move at high speed movement, be so frontal? He has had many attempt to approach him and only few have actually ever found him. He is not an easy man to find so what purpose would it serve for him to stall us with a riddle? What are your thoughts, Pendragon?" |
[/b] He looked at the man he had put as Captain and waited for an answer. The Giant was not only intelligent for his kind, he was just overall intelligent. “ Interesting….
Golden eyes narrowed in thought scanned the paper in his superior’s hands several times, puzzling over the words of not only the riddle, but of the message as a whole as well. At first, he thought that the riddle was about the sun, but when he realized that there were several things wrong with that assumption. Besides, just how in the world would the sun help them find the master of Soru?
With those thoughts, he decided to turn to another avenue altogether. What if… they weren’t looking for some object? What if they were looking for a person? If they were looking for a person… then the riddle suddenly made perfect sense! There was really only one type of person within Lyneel Kingdom that fit this description. Knowing his superior though, he probably already figured it out.
Turning his gaze towards the lighthouse in the distance, he smirked. ”I suppose you’ve already figured out exactly where we are going next, Vice Admiral?”
Before he was able to say anything else though, his superior spoke. "It's questionable, isn't it? Why would a Master of Soru, a technique that allows one to move at high speed movement, be so frontal? He has had many attempt to approach him and only few have actually ever found him. He is not an easy man to find so what purpose would it serve for him to stall us with a riddle? What are your thoughts, Pendragon?"
Hearing the question, he actually blinked for a second and casted a brief glance down to his human superior before moving his sight back to the lighthouse with a chuckle. ”Simple, Vice Admiral. He wants to test our worth. The agility of our minds, if you will.”
With a slightly wider smirk, he stood up from his crouched position, his eyes still fixed on the tall structure in the distance. ”I have no doubt that we have already piqued the man’s interest by searching for him. After all, it is not every day that a Vice Admiral and a giant go to look for someone in particular, especially not a master of Rokushiki, something which I am sure has already reached his ears if that message of his is any indication.
I’ve known a lot of masters in my lifetime, Vice Admiral. Many of the ones with more esoteric knowledge are very fickle in picking the students they teach. It is terribly difficult to get one to even notice you when you want them to. We should consider ourselves very lucky in that respect; that’s one less thing we have to do for our quest.”
His smirk transformed into a wry grin as he rubbed his chin idly. ”From my experience, it’s usually best to go along with their machinations. At least for the moment.”
”Besides, the lighthouse would give us a great view of the Lyneel Kingdom, or so I’ve heard.” He added after a few moments before starting to walk towards the structure he had been eyeing with the same wry grin on his lips.

Whether they would notice or not did not matter. However, what did matter was that they were being watched and not by any spy. No the man who was watching them was Jinsoku himself. He grinned slightly as they solved the riddle and began to head for the lighthouse. What interested him more though was the question the vice admiral had posed that the giant had answered. So both were intelligent and the vice admiral was curious as to why they had been presented with the riddle. The man swung his pickaxe onto his shoulder and vanished. The speed at which he moved was much faster then the spy.
"They have passed the first test." he said to himself as he soon arrived back at his home. Spies were all well and good, but sometimes you had to go and see for yourself. He pressed a den den mushi. "Hey Bob, they worked out my riddle and on the way over to you. You know what to do."
"Of course, master Jinsoku. They will not leave till they are ready for the next step." a smarmy voice replied. "How much of a chance should I give them?" There was a pause as Jinsoku considered this.
"Give them a test which gives them only 10% chance of success." he replied. "I don't want them getting here too easily." There was a murmur of agreement from the other end and then the call was cut off. A second call was placed afterwards.
"The first test is completed. IF they can pass Bob's test then they will soon find me. IF they pass my training I will send them your way Master Fon"
"oooooooooohhhhhhhh." was all the reply was. Jinsoku grinned and ended the call. That was all the answer he needed

The riddle was definitely strange in itself but it hadn't been too hard to solve. Jack had nodded at the Giant's first question, his own simply a way to confirm his suspicions and the action he had chosen to take.
It seemed that Jinsoku was a well informed Master, not necessarily a bad thing. His Captain was definitely right. They no longer had to worry about gaining the man's interest as he had already shown an interest in them. No, now they only had to worry about finding him.
The Lighthouse was as good a place as any, all things considered. It would give them good vantage over the area and might help them get a clue towards the man's location. "Alright, then. Let's go check out this Lighthouse. Although, I have a feeling that something's already in wait for us. The man we may be looking for might not be that far away afterall." His Intelligence caused him to sense another presence nearby and a strong one at that. But Jack felt it was better to go along with the man's plans rather than oppose them. After all, they had come here to learn from the man.

“ This… is going to be more inconvenient than I thought it would be.
The Pendragon marine looked frowned darkly as they reached the lighthouse. This place’s lighthouse was only slightly taller than his polearm when you took everything into account, and said building was only twice as wide as he was. The door itself was about the size of his pinky finger and looked well-worn, and the windows were smaller than his fingernails. There was no way in the world that he was going to fit in there. Not unless he chopped the top off with his Ji and squished his way inside.
Unfortunately, his superiors would be furious with them if he caused unnecessary collateral damage to their surroundings. He’d rather not be run out of the kingdom like some worthless pirate, thank you very much. He had enough of being lynched before he had joined the marines. Unfortunately, this left the pair with only one course of action.
”Vice Admiral, you’re going to have to continue up into the lighthouse on your own.” Salazar remarked dryly as he gestured towards the said structure. ”The lighthouse was obviously not built with everyone in mind.”
With an amused look in his eyes, he continued. ”Just holler when you find the man in charge of that lighthouse. I’m sure I can talk to him from here.”

"Well boys it seemed you passed Master Jinsoku's mental agility test." said a voice before a man leapt down from the roof landing without a scratch. "Name's Bob and i'm the man who will put you on the next little step to finding the master." He looked up at the giant for a moment and then suddenly ran straight up the wall of the lighthouse as if it was the floor and flipped onto the roof. "Hmmm you're a big one aint'cha?" he said with a chuckle. "How fast are ya?" he shouted as he leapt down again. He seemed to not sit still this guy. He did not seem suited for being a lighthouse keeper. For one he was far too young looking. He looked about 19 and had short messy black hair and vibrant green eyes. He was wearing nothing but a pair of black shorts revealing a slim, well toned body. "Vice-admiral guy I want you to run up and down my lighthouse twice. If ya can do it quick enough for my liking i'll let ya move onto the next step of my test." He looked at the giant again. "As for you....there is an island twelve miles away to the north. Swim there and back as quick as ya can. Do it fast enough and you'll pass to the next stage.""And i'll know if your cheating because..." he whistled and another man jumped down from the top of the lighthouse. This one was identical to him in every way except his hair was blonde. "...my brother Bob is coming with you and before you ask yes we are both called Bob. Our parents lacked imagination." Strange individuals, surely. But he wasn't discouraged. He knew his Captain had the ability to perform the task. He just wondered if they could both do it in enough time. Jack was fast but he certainly wasn't the fastest. Yet, he didn't hesitate. He looked at the one who had asked the question and spoke shortly, "Fast Enough."
He stretched, letting his body relax in preparation for the feet he was about to commit. He looked at the man who he had made Captain. They had only begun their journey and who knew how far they'd have to go to attain the power they wanted. He nodded to his Captain before bursting forth.
He may not have been naturally the fastest but he had a lot of power behind him and if he concentrated that power on an area of his body, he could perform explosive feats of energy. He burst forward, his right foot connecting with the tower for a second before he pushed off and continued the speedy climb.
He got about halfway before his body began to fail him, the strain on his feet getting to him. It was a lot harder than he had thought. But he didn't doubt himself. Using his Heart, he continued on before reaching the top. He was supposed to do this twice? Bullshit. He'd run down as well.
He took a deep breath before bursting downward, running back down along the Lighthouse. He moved fast, his Heart carrying him through. He landed on the ground with a thud, the energy he had released enough to tire a normal man. But he wasn't through. No, he was a man who could carry on. He would not ever lose again. He had to prove strong.
He threw Bob a quick Grin and a thumbs up before bursting forth again. Somehow he managed to be even faster than before, as if he had learned from his first attempt. His Intelligence had come into play, allowing him to adapt and learn the quickest and most effective way to run up the Lighthouse. He burst forward until he reached the top once again. But he didn't stop there. He continued by pivoting and bursting back down with renewed vigor, already feeling his Stamina Levels rising. It would seem that this test was one of Stamina then. Well if it was Stamina, he wouldn't lose.
He burst down along the wall, finally landing on the ground. He had moved so fast that the sweat on his body was evaporating, his toned muscles in the light for all to see. He hadn't worked so hard to lose so easily. He looked at Bob, his breathing not even very shallow. In that short amount of time he had already begun to improve his body. "Time."

“ Swim. That was what they wanted Salazar to do. He had some inkling as to what it had to do with learning Soru, but he’d keep that to himself and test to see if his theory was right or wrong. Still, it didn’t stop him from voicing his thoughts about the names of their taskmasters. After all, he’s never been one to stop himself from blurting out his opinion if there was nothing at stake.
”I’ll bet.” Salazar couldn’t help but remark in a dry tone about their parents’ unoriginality before adding something out of curiosity. ”Just how can you tell whose being called when you’re both in the same place?
Whether or not they answered, Salazar turned towards the sea. Thank the world that I haven’t eaten a devil fruit, otherwise this would’ve been impossible. He thought to himself idly as he removed his gloves, bracers, shirt, shoes, socks, and his Ji from his person to ensure maximum speed. He would have taken off his pants as well, but he didn’t really want to leave his pants alone with anyone. Leaving his precious weapons was bad enough as it is.
Body, don’t you dare fail on me. Salazar thought to himself as he took a deep breath, put his arms in front of him, and jumped off of the cliff the lighthouse was on. His body flew over the jagged rocks near the cliff, slicing clear through the air in an impressive leap before shearing through the water in what seemed to be a perfect dive.
Once he was in the water, his well-honed instincts kicked in as his legs began to kick with a lot of strength and speed while keeping straight. After a few seconds, he started his arm strokes, practically doubling his speed as he did so. At every third stroke, he took a breath to replenish the oxygen that he was burning as he swam as if life depended on it.
Despite the urgent matter of this task, Salazar was as relaxed as he could be in this situation. He couldn’t afford to tense or panic, knowing that those emotions would only affect his body and impede him on this arduous 24-mile journey. He just had to go there in a straight line, one stroke at a time. Mind over matter matters most here.
Soon enough, after what seemed like a rushed yet relaxed eternity, he could finally see the island. It was literally only a few strokes away, so the giant decided to kick it up a notch and move a little bit faster with his goal in sight. It didn’t take long before his hands reached the familiar texture of dry land… or rather, the earth of an island.
He pulled himself up to the island, his chest heaving from the long swim he had just endured. He took a brief moment to catch his breath before taking a deep one and diving into the sea again. If he really didn’t need to do that, then he wouldn’t have done so. However, he didn’t have the best endurance amongst his kind, so he had to take a breather even for the shortest of times. He wasn’t here to die after all.
It didn’t take him long before his body got into the familiar rhythm of the front crawl once again. This time, he was a little bit more frenzied, and a little bit less relaxed. Time’s a wasting, and he needed to make up for his delay.
Stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe, stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe….
…Breathe, stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe –almost there-, stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe….
With an absolutely one-track mind, Salazar was able to swim back to the island where he came from in slightly faster form. At this point, his muscles were really starting to feel some of the burn of the workout that he was giving them. However, he really wanted this done and over with, so he couldn’t let himself quit. Mind over matter is what matters most.
Once he made it there, he pulled himself up on the side of the cliff that he could reach with a single smooth motion. While entirely drenched to the bone, he caught his breath again as he took off his soaking wet bandana and squeezed the water out of it, which had the side-effect of placing his hair on his face.
”Done.” He muttered when he finally caught his breath, staring straight into the black haired Bob. ”Did it meet your standards?”

Due to the fact his task was shorter and easier the vice-admiral was the first to finish as expected. What interested Bob more was not the speed of it in total, but how quickly he could adapt. On the first climb his speed had been just above average, but on the second it had been much swifter. A great adaptation to the situation. "Good enough. We'll wait for your friend to get back and then I'll assign you your next test." he said with an almost twisted grin on his face. The first test was extremely easy. It was not long, well relatively speaking, before the giant arrived soaked to the bone.
The black-haired Bob looked at his blond-haired brother who nodded. "Well Mr.Giant it seems you didn't cheat and considering you don't look built for speed or long distance you did a pretty good job." he said calmly. "Enough to move to the next one of my tests." He nodded to the blond-haired Bob who ran up the lighthouse. A second later there was the sound of whirring mechanical devices from within and the sound of metal striking stone.
"Vice-admiaral. Your task is the same as last time, but with a twist. The light house is no longer a simple set of steps. Some will be fake, others will be booby trapped and some will not be there. You will be unarmed for this run." he said with that twisted grin still on his face. "Its dangerous, but if you can't survive this level of danger and fitness then Jinsoku will destroy you with his training in a matter of seconds. At the top you will find a golem. Defeat the golem and you will be shown to Jinsoku. I will await you at the top to watch your fight. If you forefeit and I have to defeat the golem for you then you will not proceed" He turned back to the giant.
"As for you, your task is also simple enough. You will swim back to the island. When you reach there you will see in the distance a mighty mountain. You are to go to the top of the mountain and return to me a scale from the dragon that lives atop it. You must do so without any of your tools. Anything you can find at the top of the mountain or on your way is your weapon. The mountain itself is dangerous, but not too much for a giant" He whistled again and blond-hair jumped down with that same twisted smile on his face that black-hair had. He was jogging on the spot and at his waist was a katana. "Bob will be going with you again. If things get too hectic for you he will step in and defeat the dragon, but if he does so you will not proceed to the next stage."
(The lighthouse will be filled with traps like bear traps, hidden blades, arrow traps. Some stairs will fall away beneath your feet leading to spikes. Other times there will be no stairs at all and you will have to use other means (such as poles in the ceiling) to proceed. The golem will be tough.
The dragon will be tough even for a giant. HE is quite swift and quite powerful. HE may not be huge in size for you, but he is still a challenge. The mountain itself will not pose too big a threat except for rock slides and things.)

He'd have to actually enter the lighthouse this time around, something that seemed fair enough. A Golem for him and a Dragon for his Giant. Jack wondered if he would be able to tame the Golem and keep it as a pet or if Salazar could do so for the Dragon. Either way, this would certainly be amusing.
He took off his shirt, letting it fall to the ground. He'd get it back when he came back down. He didn't need to worry about being armed, he had no weapons on his person. He entered the lighthouse, carefully watching his every step. To be honest, he was going to have to rely on instinct more than intellect. He had to react quickly and efficiently in order to come out of this alive.
He looked around, using his Intelligence to perhaps see any irregularities in the structure of the stairwell. Without warning, he burst forward and onto the wall, hopping off one wall to the other rather than taking the stairs. There was no guarantee this was the safer route but it was definitely more straining on the body. Still, he carried on through, moving off one wall and to the other in an attempt to reach the top of the Lighthouse.
It certainly wasn't easy, not by any means. It was a difficult task on it's own and even more so after his initial feat of physical fitness. No, this was definitely stressing it. He struggled to get to the top, definitely tired by the time he was. If he had been mistaken and there were traps set up on the walls also, he would have done his best to avoid them and maneuver around.
By the time he reached the top he was quite tired. Not yet seeing the Golem, he rested for a short while, watching out for any signs of the beast. It was just now that he realized he hadn't wished the Giant good luck.

“ You know… this is sounding more and more like those ridiculous quests that the crazy priests of Elbaf made me go on before I wised up and left.
The giant’s brows couldn’t help but furrow at Bob’s statement. Dragons were temperamental creatures and the guy basically wanted him to aggravate it by tearing a scale out. As such, some part of his mind was saying that his task sounded particularly harder than his superior’s officer’s. However, he had an inkling that this was because of the difference in stature and power. He supposed that the quest was doable… but probably very difficult.
If he had not promised his superior officer that he was going to stick with the journey to power until the end, he would have been getting second thoughts by now. However, he was nothing if not committed to a goal. It’s why those damned priests tolerated him for so long despite his attitude. That was exactly why he was going along with this bizarre quest.
”Very well. If that is what you request, then it shall be done.” The giant declared with a steely tone before slicking his hair back and then placing his headband on the handle of his Ji. He wasn’t allowed to wield any of his tools for this one, and unfortunately that included his special headband. He was just going to have to make do with the sea water and hope that it’s enough to make his hair stay in place.
Here we go again…. The giant thought with a sigh as he walked towards the cliff and jumped off once he was on the edge. After executing a perfect entry into the water once again, he began swimming towards the island again.
Stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe, stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe….
After yet another muscle-burning journey through the sea, Salazar found himself back on the island. His hands were on bent knees and his shoulders hunched as his chest heaved from the exertion of swimming another twelve miles. This particular round would increase his total mileage in the water to a daunting thirty six miles, a fact that made him somewhat glad that he was a giant instead of a human. If he had attempted this as a human, then he was definitely sure that he would have crippled himself from exhaustion. As of now, he was just particularly winded and needed a little bit of time to get a fresh one.
Once Salazar had caught his breath and a new wind, he took some water from the shore and used it to slick back his very unruly hair. After that, he sighed and began to trek towards the mountain that was conveniently near to the beach he was currently on. It took a while, but he finally managed to arrive at the base of the mountain.
Unfortunately, the mountain had little in way of roads. Instead, it was littered with hand-holds and sheer cliff faces that looked uncomfortably unstable. The sight of this did little to deter the relatively-young giant though. In fact, he was smirking at the mountain and the top that even he couldn’t see from the clouds.
”Mountain-climbing. Haven’t done that in a while.” He muttered to himself as he clutched at the nearest handhold and pulled himself up in an impressive display of arm strength.
Salazar then began to systematically climb up the mountain using the hand holds he could find. While on the way to the top, he was besieged by random falling boulders and other debris of various shapes and sizes. He couldn’t have been more thankful for his Bakusai Tenketsu technique at those points because it allowed him to demolish them with ease. Joining the assault on him were various flying creatures and the occasional mountain mammal, which he managed to ward away by throwing chunks of the mountain at them or by shooing them away with an intimidating glare. Certain parts of the mountain also crumbled on him at least twice, but he was resourceful enough to twist his body and make his own handholds on the sides of the crumbled structure.
Despite all of those near encounters with disaster, Salazar was mostly okay when he finally reached the top, if not somewhat tired from the constant physical exertion. A bit tired and covered with sweat and debris he may be, but there was no doubt that he still possessed his full mental faculties and was ready for an encounter with the dragon at any time when he reached the top.
Now where is that blasted reptile? The marine thought as his eyes began to look around for possible traces of the dragon that he had been told to seek. Here dragon… here dragon dragon….
