SOGEKIHEI (SHARPSHOOTER) - By spinning her eku at high speeds, Mary can create a twirling bladed shield of death. Because the eku is of steel and not wood, like most eku, the blade can effectively deflect most weapons of metal, wood, or other materials of similar or lower levels of hardness. This technique can be used to deflect anything from swords to bullets, though with any of the attacks there are still chances to attack within the gaps of the blade, like bullets. To do this, Mary must be stationary, as in not moving her legs or otherwise propelling herself, as it takes a lot of concentration. It is feasible, however, on vehicles and ships. This defense is rather effective against pole arms like spears and staffs, and long bladed swords because it can easily trap and/or redirect the weapon.
