Excitement. Elisabeth was finally on her very first bounty hunt, chasing after a no good pirate hiding away on the island of Ohara, causing trouble in the pacifist city like the lowest kind of person. Skarbrand was a powerful pirate, and not someone the little cyborg girl could handle on her own, so she had to seek help for this one. People weren't jumping at the chance to be Bounty Hunters though, and she wasn't liking the look of the one man who stepped up to her call for help. He was rather scrawny she though, and wasn't too clear on whether he was a real bounty hunter, or just a beginner like she was. He could swing a sword though, he proved that when she asked about his skills. In the end thats really all that mattered when it came to taking down thugs and criminals. Not that she was against taking down those dogs of the government the marines, but it was always more fun fighting the sea people.
Gripping the flyer in the grip of her metallic claw, Elisabeth turned to her partner and tilted her head, blinking a little before sighing. "He should be hiding somewhere in the Tree of Knowledge. Shouldn't be too hard to find the guy right? A rowdy brute of a pirate in a group of pacifists?" She laughed a bit at how easy this was going to be, her robot tail swaying back and forth as she crouched to the ground, looking the tree up and down. While it was fun to joke, she could tell searching such a big place wasn't going to be any fun. Her eyes were much better suited for scanning the darkness and not seeing through walls. Stretching out her legs, she decided to take the fastest approach to this mission. Running through the tree scanning the area as best she could while making the other guy do a more thorough look after her. "I run through, you search the little places. Good? Good. Static out." Turning her face upward and smiling with her eyes before running off into the tree on all fours, a small metal ball of excitment.

Haruki looked at the small cyborg. He had been interested in it because, well, he had never seen a Cyborg before. And that it was a young female girl made it even more interesting. It was like watching a hyper teen. And not only that, she had gone onto the path of the Bounty Hunters. She was really an interesting one. So he had joined her in going after this villain she was after. After all, it would mean he would get money too.
Having spaced out a bit, he was a bit startled by her telling him what to do. She thought she was better than him because she was a cyborg. And that could actually be true. Who knew what she hid under them metal. As she ran off into the tree, he ran after her, right hand at the sheaths. Always prepared in case someone attacked him. But if anyone did they would know it was the guy they were after. Once inside the tree he would look around carefully after she scanned the area. He could be hiding after all.

He had been betrayed, kicked out of his old crew. Oh too bad! They didn't know what they were missing. He'd find his own way, make his own crew! That was it! He'd make his own crew. Well, that was what he had been thinking three nights ago in the bar at least. Now? He wasn't so sure. But he couldn't go around doubting himself! The brute furrowed his brow, trying to find a solution to this but incapable, he wasn't the smartest chat after all.
It wasn't long before he heard he had a bounty on his head. Only 20,000,000?! The number made him raging mad, an insult if you would. He was certain he had killed enough and pillaged enough to have made a better name for himself! That was it, the last straw. He'd make his own crew and set off towards the Grandline, no doubt bound to gain a higher bounty on his journey to conquer.
He sat down in the middle of a large forest, eating an apple by the stream. It wasn't too long before his eyes became heavy and he fell asleep, the Spring Spring man peacefully asleep. It would be a sad day for whoever woke up the light sleeper. After all, he wasn't a complete idiot. He had traps set up all around his little haven. Any intruders would have to survive them in order to approach the sleeping brute of a "King."

She had been running through the tree forever, dashing up and down the stairs and peeking into rooms while her unlucky companion followed behind. She wasn't too concerned about leaving him to do the thorough search, after all, he had no complaints about her plan it seemed. He was a lot better a companion than Static had originally believed. Very obedient, something she usually found herself being in these situations, being led around by strong independent people most of her life. It was nice to be in charge for once. That being said, she couldn't let her first mission as a bounty hunter be a failure. She had to find and capture this scum so she could get her money and start working on her dream of uniting the Bounty Hunters into one organization. That would take time though, and connections, not to mention reputation.
As she reached the end of the tree and began her rush back down, Static slipped past her partner and climbed up to look out a window. "I don't think he's here...he would be causing problems if he was wouldn't he?" She kept looking out the window, clinging to the edge while tilting her head curiously. It would take so long to search the whole island, but at this point there wasn't much choice. For now she had to make sure her partner was satisfied with the search. Leaping off the window she shuffled her feet on the way down the tree, taking her time to figure out a strategy for searching the island without taking too much energy. She should reach the bottom in time to meet up with her partner after his trip all the way up and back again.

Haruki ran through the tree, wondering why it was so quiet. It should not be so quiet in a place where a bounty were. Specially not here. From what he knew this guy was the big, buff stupid type. Not the smart type to hide and ambush. But you could never be too sure. But when he reached the top, he seriously doubted that he was in there. No marks of destruction, no ruckus, no nothing. He sighed and began running down again. Coming out of the tree, he looked around for the little cyborg girl, noticing her after a few seconds.
”I think we should search the forest. He is big and buff, probably not so smart. Therefore he is probably just wandering around.” Haruki said to her, awaiting her response as to what to do. She was the one to lead this mission, he had agreed to that. But he would not let her go without helpful advice.

It was a simple plan, and the fact that she didn't think about it herself irritated her a bit. The forest was an obvious place for the ambitious pirate bounty to hide, that's for sure, but would he really be simple enough to capture? If he was smart he'd have an ace or two up his sleeve in case of emergency. She didn't want to go running into the forest without a care in the world just to get blown away by a trick gun or bomb that he might of pilfered from a previous conquest. She looked the man next to her up and down, wondering if he might be a sturdy individual worthy of going in first. Sadly a tank he was not. She would have to go ahead and hope that her agility and durability would help her get away from any tight spots. She took a deep, robotic breath and nodded to her companion, hoping to take it slow this time just in case she ran ahead and got into trouble and she couldn't cut it. With an agile leap of her lithe form, Elisabeth ascended a tree, planning to go from branch to branch. A birds eye view could be a helpful thing.

Watching the Cyborg leap up, Haruki pulled out his Harpoon gun and a Harpoon, loading it. Then he ran off under her, making sure to keep about the same speed as her. She could have the birds view. He would rather have the toad view. Running through the forest meant a lot of bushes and branches, and a lot of hiding places. However, he was confident in his skills to evade any incoming trees and other dangers. Occasionally looking up at her to make sure they did not end up separated, he ran. At this speed, he could go for some time. But they had to find this guy soon. Or else he could end up too tired to fight if it ended up like that.

So they were heading towards the forest, eh? Good for them. Except, it wasn't going to be so easy. His traps covered both paths, the highroad and the low road. If they wanted to apprehend Skarbrand, they would have to work together.
As the young Cyborg moved from branch to branch, one collapsed as it was meant to. In fact, many of the branches ahead had bent made to collapse in an attempt to force any intruders to take the much more dangerous ground path.
No, the toad view had definitely ended up being more dangerous. As the young man ran forward, avoiding running into trees and the like, his foot made contact with a land mine, one of the many that were laid around the forest. The steady tone from beneath his foot, hopefully, would be enough of a warning for him not to move. Of course Skarbrand knew where they were all planted. But these two would have to figure out some way around them. But first they had to figure out how to move without the mine going off. Because, if it did, his foot would be a hinder for the remainder of the thread.

The path was going well, each branch holding up just fine as her partner moved along below, dodging the trees that made up her high road. That is until the trap part of this whole game came into play. Her branch fell away as she bounced off of it, dropping heavily to the ground as she made her way to the next tree, digging her metallic claw fingers into the trunk of the next tree as the branch fell away, leaving her clinging to the tree's trunk. She looked back to make sure that everything was going well only to hear a click as Mithril's foot came down in the grass. So the pirate had thought of this whole thing already, well that was disappointing, she was hoping for the bounty to be a quick, in and out sort of thing. As she slowly clawed her way up the trunk to find rest on a tested branch of her tree, Static watched her partner. "Try not to move. If you couldn't tell already, it would be very bad." It would be horrible to lose a partner so soon after starting up. "Have any way out of it?" Her head cocked to the side, Static tried to come up with some way to keep her ground bound partner from stepping into anymore trouble.

Haruki knew it had been too easy. Hearing the click under his foot, he halted, not moving his foot away from the spot. God damnit. Looking over at his partner he noticed that she had fallen down, the branch rolling towards him. As she spoke, he really wanted to say You don’t say, but this was not the time for sarcasm. He looked around, and found a large rock. He pulled it towards himself with his free foot. He then grabbed a harpoon from his back, and put the non-sharp end down right next to his foot, applying pressure to the Land Mine under it. Then he moved the rock closer to his foot, and carefully he managed to nudge the rock onto where his foot was, and his foot away. He then took a step back, and let out a loud sigh.
”No worries. But this place is most likely filled with them. And the branches are broken. Which means we have to leap from tree to tree.” He said, jumping at the tree, stabbing the harpoon into it. From there he kicked off while pulling the harpoon out, and stabbed it into another tree. ”It might be slower, but we don’t have much choice.”

He handled it well, much better than Static would of had she been a ground bound human like him. Lucky he had that harpoon to move from tree to tree to stay safe, as long as there weren't traps on the trunk of the tree that they might set off, but it was stiill going to be slow going from here on, simply to avoid the traps that were set up by this tricky bounty. As Static moved from tree to tree, she kept her claws dug in tight to avoid slipping down. "He thought this out a lot more than I figured he would. Hope you're ready for a fight when we find him." Someone who planned things out this much was going to be a lot of trouble in a fight. Static moved her way through the forest with her harpoon wielding companion, wary of any more tricks that were up their opponents sleeve.

Haruki nodded as Static spoke. He then halted. ”Hey, check this out. We have gotten so deep that the roots of the trees is so big that we can use them to go without touching the ground…if we can jump far enough.” He said, testing a root with his foot as he pulled out the harpoon. Taking a chance, he leaped to another close Root. As long as he was able to keep his balance then he could do it. He smiled towards Static, and ran off, using the Roots to keep himself over the ground. There was no way to bury mines under roots without leaving a trace, so therefore he thought it was safe. But there could be other traps, so he held the harpoon ready in case he had to get up into a tree again.

It would seem that they were safe for now. The mine's explosion had been successively averted and their lives were still intact. Perhaps it was luck that had aided the young man. Either way, they would both have to be careful from now on.
Though they were safe for now, there was no guarantee that they would reach their intended target. After all, there were many more traps within this Forest. Though they had survived two already, they had just began their journey. In fact, unbeknown to the them, they had entered another trap.
Yes, they were safe from danger, at least for now. But that by no definition meant that their ordeal was over. No, they would still have to trek through this forest. Only, after traveling for some time, they might begin to notice that many things seemed familiar. It would be a test of Intelligence but perhaps one of them would notice eventually.
This Forest was not ordinary, not in the least bit. It was a maze, a labyrinth. They would have to find their way through it in order to reach their prey. Skarbrand laughed in his sleep as if he was aware of their ordeal. "Psh," he muttered in his sleep, "Welcome to the Labyrinth Forest."

It seemed like they had been running and climbing these trees forever, the sun was starting to go down, and they didn't appear to have made any progress at all. Something about this whole thing was weird, but if Skarbrand had gotten through here, then it shouldn't be a problem for them, right? However, it WAS becoming a problem. Each tree that she went to seemed to already have claw marks in it, as if she had been there before and her partner didn't look like he was making any head way either. Stopping on one of the trees, Static let out a heavy sigh. "Why does it seem like we're getting no where?" Her tail swished back and forth in agitation as she took a moment to rest. All the other tricks had been straight forward, and there was no sign of the bounty having any kind of illusion powers. So what was it that kept them from moving on in this stupid forest?

Haruki stopped on a root, catching his breath. There was no way that they had not reached this guy yet. They had been running for forever. But, for some reason, they had ended up where they started, something his companion claw marks told them. Well, it had to be something about this place that made them go around In a ring, so all they had to do was to figure out WHAT that did it. ”Hey, could you climb up to the top of one of the trees and check if you can see the library? That way we can determine where we are.” Haruki said, using the back of his hand to wipe of some sweat from his forehead.
sorry for uber lateness. i have no idea why i could not get a post up before now.
